Veneers, Bonding or Crowns

You may choose alternatives, such as composite bonding or porcelain crowns. Both have their place, with their own pros and cons.

Bonding is a good option where there’s minimal changes needed to the teeth, e.g. repairing a chipped incisal edge. Bonding is good because it needs no enamel removal, but can chip and stain easily, so maintenance is needed more often.

Porcelain crowns are a good option where the teeth are weak or heavily restored, or if there is a strong bite where extra protection is needed. Crowns are strong and durable, but need enamel to be removed from the tooth, which can risk future problems.

Veneers help to get the best of both. They’re durable and stain-resistant, so need minimal maintenance. Only a little enamel removal is needed, so there is less risk of problems down the line.
