Andy was excellent throughout the whole process of my dental implant. I had suffered for years with my tooth after an injury but since having the implant it’s perfect. Being anxious about dentists in general I was apprehensive to have an implant but Andy made me feel comfortable at every stage of the treatment. I’m so pleased with the results, I highly recommend Andy and the whole team as they are very friendly and caring.

8 Reasons to choose dental implants

  1. Dental implants are secure, not removable
  2. They are self-supporting, so they don’t put any strain on your other teeth (like bridges and dentures)
  3. Eat a normal healthy diet confidently and without difficulty
  4. Speak and smile confidently with teeth that look and feel natural
  5. Implants last longer than other types of replacement teeth, with 90-95% success at 10 years
  6. You won’t have gaps which makes plaque removal easier. This helps you keep your teeth clean and healthy
  7. It helps to preserve your natural teeth because there’s no need to shave enamel down as with a bridge
  8. Implants stimulate and preserve your natural jawbone, which prevents shrinkage after the loss of natural teeth

Are dental implants for me?

If you suffer because of your missing teeth, dental implants may well be for you.

Implants are a great solution for most adults, with very few barriers to treatment. Even in the situation where some preliminary care may be required, we can help you with this.

Before we agree to start your implant treatment, this is what we look for:

  • You have good dental and gum health – we can help you achieve this if needs be
  • Your general health is good-to-fair – most common health conditions, including osteoporosis, are not an obstacle
  • You’re a non-smoker – or are willing to quit
  • We’ll check how much bone you have – we can add extra bone if you’re a little short
  • You’re motivated to look after your implants – we’ll help you with everything you need to do to look after your new teeth
  • Age is not a barrier – it’s just a number.

About dental implants

What are Dental Implants?

The implant is a titanium post which is designed and shaped so it can replace a natural tooth root. The implant fuses to the jawbone which creates a strong foundation to support a replacement tooth.

After the implant has fully healed, our dental technician creates a custom-made crown to fit onto your implant. They will design your crown so it matches your other teeth and fits into your bite to give the most natural possible result.

We use a small holding screw to secure the crown in place on the implant, and seal over the small access hole to finish.

We use BioHorizons dental implants. BioHorizons manufacture their implants in America and they are one of the world’s leading manufacturers. They have decades of research and development, so you can be safe in the knowledge that your implant is of the highest quality.

How can we use implants?

Single tooth
Dental implants multiple teeth

Dental implants fixed full arch
Full set – fixed in place
Dental implants removable full arch
Full set – secure removable denture

Teeth in a day

Sometimes called smile-in-a-day, all-on-4 or all-on-6.

We’ll always make sure you’re not left with gaps at any stage. Even immediately after your treatment, it’s important to be able to smile.

Often, we can fit teeth directly onto your implants at the same appointment we fit your implants. We can do this with single teeth, multiple teeth or a full set of teeth. This means that you can avoid having a removable denture and go straight to a fixed solution.

This isn’t suitable for everybody. We’d usually have a good idea if this is an option following your CBCT scan, and can plan your treatment to get the best result.

FAQs

Who carries out my treatment?

Andy Berwick is the implant dentist at No.4. Andy has a great deal of experience with implants so we would usually provide your care from start to finish.

If your regular dentist has referred you to us for treatment, then they may choose to fit your implant crown themselves.

How much do dental implants cost in Ripon?

Generally, the starting price for a simple single tooth dental implant is around £2,990.

Everybody is different, so once you’ve visited us, we can provide you with a fully personalised quote for your chosen solution.

If you have a fixed budget, we’ll talk through different options for you so you get the maximum benefit from your investment

How long does the treatment take?

Have a look at the dental implant timeline.

If you have good bone and good dental health, then we can often complete your treatment in around 4 months.

If we need to add extra bone to support your implants, then your treatment usually takes around 8 months.

How long do dental implants last?

Implants are the longest-lasting type of solution for replacing a missing tooth. They are much more predictable than alternatives such as bridges or dentures.

If you look after your dental implants well at home, and come for your regular dental and hygiene appointments, many will last for decades

What type of dental implant do we use?

At No.4, we use BioHorizons dental implants.

BioHorizons implants are based and manufactured in the USA. They are one of the world’s leading manufacturers with decades of research and development behind them.

You can be safe in the knowledge that your implants are manufactured to the highest quality

What if I don’t have enough bone for dental implants?

We’ll check how much bone you have when you visit for your assessment and planning.

If you have less than the ideal amount, we can usually add extra bone before or alongside your dental implant. This means that your implant is well-supported going forwards

Does it hurt to have dental implants?

You’ll be surprised how comfortable your dental implant treatment is.

We’ll give you plenty of anaesthetic to keep you comfortable during your appointments.

It’s normal of course to be a little sore for a short while afterwards. We’ll advise you to take some normal painkillers, so you can be back to your normal activities within a few days
