Dental Hygienist
GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy)
Not a fan of traditional dental hygienist appointments?
At No.4 we’re proud to offer GBT hygiene therapy. Once you’ve tried GBT, you’ll never go back.
The 8 stages of your GBT appointment:

- Diagnose
We’ll carry out a full assessment of your gum health before we begin. - Disclose
Using a dye makes the biofilm visible, This helps to show you any areas to concentrate on at home, and to guide the cleaning during your appointment. - Motivate
Based on your needs and preferences, we’ll discuss how to optimise your home care routine to maintain your gum health. - AirFlow
A combination of warm water, air and fine powder gently and effectively lifts biofilm and staining from the teeth and gums. - Perioflow
If you have more advanced gum disease, this uses Airflow-type technology to target deeper pockets. - Piezon
Harder tartar deposits can be removed quietly and gently using warm water and pain-free technology. - Control and Check
We’ll carry out a full check to make sure that all biofilm and deposits have been effectively removed. - Recall
We’ll make sure you’re happy with your care, and book your next appointment at an interval that works for you.
GBT is gentle and comfortable
GBT uses Airflow technology to gently and effectively clean teeth, restorations, implants and braces.
Airflow technology uses a fine powder with a gentle jet of air and warm water to remove stains, plaque, and biofilm comfortable and effectively.

Why you should choose GBT
- GBT is an effective, gentle and comfortable route to healthy gums
- We highlight (disclose) any bacterial biofilm on your teeth, so we can target problem areas with preceision
- You can see the highlighted biofilm for yourself, so you know where to target at home
- The warm water used in the Airflow jet helps keeps you comfortable during your visit
- There’s much less use of the ultrasonic (high-pitched) scaler that you’d have with traditional hygiene visits
- It will help you to keep your gums healthy, reducing bleeding, inflammation and bad breath
- It helps you maintain your teeth and implants, so they stay healthy for longer

Effective removal of Biofilm
Biofilm is the daily build-up of plaque and bacteria on your teeth and causes problems including gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath.
Biofilm is fully and effectively removed with Airflow’s powder/air/water mix. For removal of hard tartar deposits, GBT’s Piezon instrument is gentle, quiet and targeted, unlike traditional ‘ultrasonic scalers’.
